The story, which takes place in Ljubljana and Trieste but could easily take place anywhere in the world, uses its actuality to invite the audience to reflect about the world it normally takes for granted. The film examines the eternal theme of desire to rule, to control the masses, and to remain in power by shaping individuals’ reality. It warns us of the global crisis of our values and the collective apathy of individuals seduced into mental slavery, who, blinded as they are, do not realize that their future is bleak.

Totalitarian predominance is not an idea associated only with regimes from the past. It also appears today, in different forms and hidden under different names. In the new millennium, filled with quasi-democratic empty phrases, where everyone’s voice matters and we are all free, the invasion of people’s privacy has reached a new level. With technological development, surveillance has become a normal part of our everyday life. Under the pretense of our personal safety, we are constantly monitored by cameras installed in every store, every street, every hotel. At night, on screens of our television sets, city panoramas become a perverse tool used to monitor people and lurk over their business.

In the name of war against terrorism, eavesdropping on telephone conversations and access to computer systems has become justified. We are living a reality show; our thoughts and actions are perfidiously being shaped by unscrupulous multinational companies with whom we have naively signed exclusive contracts. Under the pretext of saving the world, various pseudo-scientific organizations, groups, and charismatic individuals are at work, promising salvation. But their motivation is evidently also the desire to have power.

The irrational Machiavellian use of any means that are justified by an end has already brought about the world economic crisis. Nevertheless, the desire for power and possessions has already permeated the gentle and porous tissue of society, as well as personal and love relationships, where it erodes fundamental human values. Absolute devotion or absolute “transition” is an instrument of manipulation. Relationships are just another platform for the game of supremacy, dominance, control, and power.
